Hotel Verta installs VDA Micromaster

Hotel Verta, the latest opening from von Essen Hotels, has installed VDA’s Micromaster system to address key issues such as security and energy management.
Home to London’s only helipad, the hotel is expected to attract dignitaries and celebrities and so required the highest level of security. The solution was found with VDA’s Micromaster system, which, along with many other functions throughout the hotel, provides door access control to the helipad.
Since the landing space is considered to be airside, von Essen and VDA worked with the Metropolitan Police to ensure that Micromaster would be compliant with its security regulations. Using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology – as used by London Underground’s Oyster Card system – Micromaster is activated by individually issued control cards, allowing only the staff with highest level of clearance to access the helipad.
Micromaster’s Vitrum collection also allows Hotel Verta to fine-tune its energy consumption from a centrally controlled system. It is designed with an elegantly sculpted touch-control screen that allows guests to personally adjust temperature levels within limits defined by the hotel. The system relays real time updates to the hotel’s central computer based upon actual occupancy levels, rather than the reservation report, so that equipment is powered only when it is needed.
Not only does this considerably reduce Hotel Verta’s energy and maintenance costs, it also helps extend the life of its plant while substantially lowering the property’s carbon footprint.
