Tagli Resort & Spa
Arachova, Greece
Eleftherios Piskitzis Architects design luxury mountain resort
Eleftherios Piskitzis Architects has unveiled the final designs for a luxury mountain resort nestling on the outskirts of the Arachova Valley in Viotia, Greece. The Tagli Resort & Spa offers views of the Delphi Valley and the Parnassos mountains, location of the popular Parnassos Ski Center.
It is the first hotel development in a national park area protected by local laws and regulations. The designers promise ‘beautiful interiors with plenty of wood, hand-made carpets, soft materials and warm, playful colours.’
Sustainability issues have also been taken into account in a ‘bioclimatic design’ which has created a low-energy consumption building. High insulation materials clad the exterior, including triple glazed windows and doors. The insulated roof is designed to cope with extreme snow and wind loads. Where possible, local materials such as stone tiles have been specified for external walls and outdoor pavements, and natural timber columns for the façade.
The resort will have four luxury suites, 16 business suites and 20 executive rooms, restaurant, café/bar, lounge area, two indoor pools, spa and conference facilities, a gym, an outdoor pool, two outdoors bars and an open theatre for cultural activities. All guestrooms have sloping wooden beamed ceilings with views to the Parnassos peaks.
The resort is expected to atrract skiers during winter, but also enthusiasts of nature, hiking, mountain biking, and archeaology.
Construction has begun and is expected to be completed in 2009.
