AFR’s Yas Island hotels cross finishing line
20 November 2009 GMT 10:38 (Abu Dhabi)
International architecture and interior design practice Aukett Fitzroy Robinson (AFR) has completed its first high profile hotel project in Abu Dhabi as part of the Yas Island development and Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, opening in 2010.
Appointed as lead consultant, architect and interior designer by ALDAR Properties, AFR completed the new 397-room Radisson Blu Hotel and 204-room Park Inn Abu Dhabi, Yas Island resort hotels to coincide with the inaugural Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix.
The contemporary design, inspired by the location on the coast of the Arabian Sea, is in keeping with the innovative and creative spirit of Abu Dhabi and the Yas Island experience.
The aspiration was to create a ‘new breed’ of hotels for the next generation – contemporary flagship properties with bold interior design solutions. This ethos is reflected in the design of the hotels’ signature restaurants, particularly the Filini Restaurant and spectacular light sculptures at the heart of the Radisson Blu.
