29 April 2010 14:32:46 BDT
Park Plaza Hotels has acquired the Holiday Inn Amsterdam Schiphol, one of the largest conference hotels in the Netherlands.
The property originally opened in 2007 and offers 342 contemporary guestrooms. Its main attraction however is the wealth of meeting & events facilities on offer and the spacious and tranquil setting in which it is located.
With over 1,800 sqm of flexible meeting space the hotel is among the top meeting locations in the Netherlands. All 19 meeting rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows, creating a real sense of space and airiness, and provide a base for any event from small board meetings to events up to 1,700 delegates. In addition, the hotel has six business units which are ideal for small meetings.
Given its close proximity to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, the hotel will with immediate effect be rebranded as Park Plaza Amsterdam Airport. Other key destinations such as Amsterdam, Haarlem and Hoofddorp are also within easy reach.
All 342 guestrooms (including 52 executive rooms) are stylishly decorated and provide all modern amenities. Wireless internet is available in all public areas and guest can make free use of the gym and business centre. Extensive parking facilities are available as well as shuttle service to- and from Schiphol Amsterdam Airport.
Brasserie Leeghwater, Grand Café and The Waterwolf Bar & Lounge provide a wide range of eating and drinking options for local residents, guests and meeting delegates.
Park Plaza Hotels will use the next few weeks to further familiarise itself with this unique hotel and its experienced management team, but it confirms that has already earmarked funds to invest in the property, with a view to further strengthening its appeal and market position.
Boris Ivesha, Park Plaza Hotels' President & CEO comments: "We are absolutely delighted that, with our business partner Elbit Imaging Ltd., we have been able to acquire such an impressive Conference Hotel. This will be our third hotel in the Amsterdam area, with a fourth under development, and really strengthens our position in the important Dutch market".
With this acquisition, Park Plaza Hotels increases its number of rooms in operation in the Netherlands to 1,008.
The opening of Park Plaza Amsterdam Airport follows shortly after the company completed its renovations at Park Plaza Vondelpark, Amsterdam and the opening of the brand new art'otel cologne and Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London (one of Europe's largest conference hotels to open in several decades).
