Georgian townhouses transformed into boutique Bath hotel
This September will see the launch of Parade Hotel Bath in the UNESCO World Heritage City of Bath – a boutique hotel with bar, lounge and courtyard spa.
The hotel will occupy three Georgian townhouses on North Parade in the city centre, overlooking Parade Gardens, Bath Abbey and the River Avon.
Designed as boarding houses in 1740 by John Wood the Elder, The Grade I listed buildings have been sensitively restored to preserve the history, elegance and architectural character of their original design.
The hotel will feature 49 en-suite bedrooms located across six floors, including three Spa Garden Rooms in the newly designed Courtyard Spa, to the rear of the hotel.
Occupying the double front ground floor space of the central house, the 1748 Bar & Lounge will cater to hotel guests, visitors and residents of the city, featuring floor-to-ceiling sash windows, fireplace and wooden panelling. A restaurant will be added in the second phase of the project, to open at the end of 2026.
The hotel’s interiors are designed to reflect the building’s history, as well as providing a sense of relaxation and sanctuary from the city, much like Bath’s parks. Accordingly, the design brings the outside in through uses of greens, neutral tones and natural materials. Communal spaces and the majority of bedrooms feature original wooden panelling, with restored sash windows offering views of the city and fields beyond.

Bedroom categories range from intimate Snug rooms to spacious Suites, offering thoughtfully designed accommodation for different styles of stay. While the suites sleep up to four guests, the attic rooms offer the most accessible price point and furthest reaching views. A selection of bedrooms can be interconnecting for families and multi-generational stays.
Three of the Feature rooms will have standalone bathtubs that sit in front of double height sash windows, while the three Spa Garden Rooms with their living grass roofs offer direct access onto the Courtyard Spa.
Inspired by Bath’s bathing heritage of travellers seeking restoration through its waters, the spa will be a place of simple ritual and natural wellbeing. Facilities include a sauna, cold plunge, hot tub, cold drench, outdoor shower and relaxation area.
“We’re incredibly proud to be opening Parade Hotel Bath in one of Bath’s most special locations,” says Joe Bester, CEO of Providence Hotels. “We believe that where you stay should be as memorable as the destination itself. Nestled among Bath’s most iconic attractions, Parade Hotel is full of the charm, historic character and contemporary indulgences this city is known for; and rather specially, is the first building that we’ve completely restored and redesigned, so it’s been an exciting project for the whole team.”
