Property developer Benmore Group plans to build a 122-bedroom hotel, car park and shops on a largely derelict site in the centre of Dale Street at a cost of over £10m.

The company has recently applied for planning consent and if successful, work on the site will begin in spring 2010, with the hotel opening by summer 2011.

The Benmore Group has property holdings across the UK including a five-star hotel in the centre of Manchester. It is understood that the company has secured an international hotel operator for its latest development.
