Aukett + Heese-designed Berlin Central Station hotel confirmed as first Sheraton in capital

Chamartin Meermann Immobilien, the largest project developer in Berlin’s metropolitan region, has successfully signed up Arabella Hospitality Group whose joint venture with Starwood Hotels & Resorts, ArabellaStarwood Hotels & Resorts, will operate the Aukett + Heese designed project.

The 464-room hotel, which encompasses a presidential suite, spa, two restaurants, a ballroom, and contemporary conference centre, is part of a 38,500m2 mixed-use property that also includes 4,000m2 of high-end retail space.

Design highlights include a glazed roof-top event space complemented by 800m2 terrace that will offer hotel guests a panoramic view of the German capital.

A skywalk will connect the building to Berlin’s main rail terminal which has direct connections to the new Berlin Brandenburg International airport.

The project is expected to begin on site in autumn 2010 with opening planned for end 2012.
