Skandium announces two London showrooms

Scandinavian design collective Skandium has announced the opening of a two new spaces in Thurloe Place, South Kensington, it’s first new openings of the type in a decade.

The stores, a two-storey building and four-storey townhouse adjacent, will open their doors in July and September respectively, following the closure of the company’s current Brompton Road space.

Stocking a collection of Scandinavian soft furnishings, accessories and lighting, the first store is designed to reflect modern London living, whilst the second will become Skandium’s new furniture destination. The two locations will together form 5,500ft² of retail space.

Jan Vejsholt, Skandium’s Managing Director, comments: “It will be a totally new store concept for us, consisting of two separate buildings facing each other across the street. One, a townhouse, providing the best possible way to show how our clients could live and furnish their homes, and opposite, a standalone, quintessentially English building dating from the 1860s, which will showcase one of London’s largest collections of Scandinavian lighting, plus a floor full of accessories and gift ideas expertly curated by Skandium for the design conscious and the curious. In the new store, expect to find an engaging mix of mid-century masterpieces, future classics, and there will always be room for a Moomin mug.”
