Hotel Arena completes transformation

Amsterdam’s Hotel Arena has completed a transformation that touches elements of both design and concept. Re-establishing the hotel as an ‘in the city park’ proeprty where locals and tourists meet, the reconstruction sees the addition of a new wing comprising 16 guestrooms, café-restaurant concept Park, creative meeting and event studios, and a new look overseen by TeamV Architectuur and Tank Interior design.

Set to reopen in September, the new scheme strikes a balance between the leafy surrounding Oosterpark district and the historic St. Elisabeth Guesthouse it resides within. Additional new features include a park-side entrance, glass walls and a reimagined aesthetic characterised by greenery and earthy tones.

Created with the intention to connect people, the amount of guestrooms has increased whilst the redesigned original suites will be instilled with a personal boutique atmosphere. Meanwhile, a new layout connects the building with the park, seeking to create an environment where guests and locals alike feel at home.

Vegetable-focussed dining concept Park continues the theme, sourcing ingredients from an in-house herb garden, whist an original chapel from the time the building served as an orphanage will function as event space alongside a new gallery.
