Akula awarded King’s Award for Enterprise

British outdoor furniture manufacturer Akula Living has been awarded the King’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade 2023.

This award is bestowed by His Majesty’s government in recognition of the highest standards of excellence – and personally approved by the King.

Demonstrating remarkable overseas sales and growth, the Yorkshire-based and family-owned company builds on a long-spanning 100-year history, originating from a legacy of textile manufacturing. Drawing on three generations of expertise, founder and CEO Tim Appleton launched what is today a lauded outdoor furniture manufacturing business for the global hospitality and cruise industry, producing marine-grade collections designed to last in the harshest climates.

Akula Living’s ranges are manufactured and fabricated to function outdoors, year-round, combining style with durability in a way that has seen the brand partner with the likes of Four Seasons, Accor, Marriott, IHG, Hilton, Holland America and Royal Caribbean.

“To receive this prestigious award is an honour and an incredible seal of approval for Akula Living, from the British Government and His Majesty King Charles III,” says Appleton. “The team and I have worked tirelessly to create a manufacturing brand synonymous with quality, exceptional design and the highest standards of durability. This award not only recognises our success till now, but also our drive to continue to build Akula and stay on top of our game.”
