Mandarin Oriental Muscat

Mandarin Oriental lands in Muscat

Mandarin Oriental, Muscat has opened its doors, marking the group’s debut in the Sultanate of Oman.

Envisioned by French interior designer Xavier Cartron, the hotel’s architecture draws on the richness of Oman’s culture. Entering the hotel lobby through grand Omani wooden doors, guests experience a seamless blend of influences from various regions and civilizations. At the heart of the lobby are three fountains, while a chandelier beams with colourful crystal lanterns.

Oman’s natural beauty has inspired the design of the 103 guestrooms and 47 suites, featuring locally-sourced natural materials. The bed’s backboard draws inspiration from the Kuma, an Omani hat, while motifs and fabrics also pay homage to the region’s traditional handwoven patterns. Brass lanterns in the space have been inspired by the khanjar, Omani daggers.

Five restaurants and lounge are set to serve up a range of international cuisine under the leadership of Executive Chef Raymond Rjaily. Signature restaurant Essenza is an exploration of Italy’s coastal regions through traditional recipes passed down through generations, while The Mandarin Cake Shop specialises in indulgent pastries and cakes, helmed by Executive Pastry Chef Stephane Tranchet.

Offering a holistic wellness experience, The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Muscat blends Mandarin Oriental’s Asian-inspired treatments with local healing traditions. Mosaics adorn the interiors, and fragrant oils scent the air, while a 30m outdoor pool is accompanied by its own bar.
