Champalimaud Design has announced the promotions of Ed Bakos to CEO and Anna Beeber to Partner.
Founded by Alexandra Champalimaud, the New York-based studio is now headed by five partners including Jon Kastl and Winston Kong. Bakos joined Champalimaud as Managing Director in 2012 and holds over 25 years of experience in the luxury hospitality and restaurant design sector. His focus lies on redefining and enhancing lifestyle-focused concepts within the luxury space. As CEO, Bakos will continue driving design strategy to create distinctive spaces worldwide and oversee the growth of the studio and its commitment to delivering high-quality service.
“Thoughtful design is at the heart of everything we do and our company’s ethos,” comments Bakos. “We consider ourselves cultural anthropologists, digging deep to tap into the emotion and the way we feel to truly bring out the personality, and craft a meaningful experience in everything we approach.”
Since joining the firm in 2010, Beeber has specialised in designing for the firm’s hospitality and private sector divisions. Her expertise spans construction management, product and interior design. In her new role, she will work closely with the management team to continue developing talent and creativity within the studio, whilst also aiming to expand opportunities for private residential clients – a growing market for the studio.
Beeber says: “Alexandra has been a mentor to me since I joined Champalimaud and I am excited to join her and the other partners, working to make an impactful contribution to the studio’s vision. We are a diverse team with wide-ranging talents and wonderful opportunities ahead.”
