AHEAD has released an overview film for AHEAD Global 2020, which took place virtually in December.
The broadcast sees Awards Director Amy Wright, along with representatives from Kerry Hill Architects, Design Group Italia, Proper Hospitality and others shed light on some of the winning projects and explain how AHEAD has brought the industry together in what has been a testing time for hospitality worldwide.
Celebrating the best new hotels, resorts and lodges around the world, the event saw regional winners from 2019-2020 compete head-to-head in eight brand new categories, with an expert panel of judges reviewing a total of 48 projects before casting their decisive votes.
Spanning the globe, from the sprawling plains of the Namibian wilderness to the awe-inspiring natural wonders of Iceland, the diverse list of winners recognised ambitious and expertly executed projects like a hotel built directly into an 800-year-old lava flow; an Owambo-style lodge set within 7,500 hectares of savannah; and the culmination of an architectural and ecological feat in China’s Jiangxi province.
