Prix Versailles announces 2019 world winners

The Prix Versailles has revealed the 12 latest world winners in the categories of Shops & Stores, Shopping Malls, Hotels and Restaurants, bringing the total number of world titles awarded this year to 21.

The awards ceremony was held at UNESCO headquarters on 12 September 2019, with many ambassadors in attendance supporting their countries’ representatives in the competition.

The Chairman of the world judges panel, Francisco Bandarin, reminded the audience that architecture and design can be at the cutting-edge of an economy based on quality of life, which encourages the idea of recognising excellence in a diversity of styles.

With its necessarily high standards (all regions combined, fewer than 1% of the projects examined make it to the winners’ podium), the Prix Versailles continues to pursue its ambition of promoting a form of economic development, which manifests the award programme’s motto of ‘Inspiration, Progress and Inclusion’.

Amongst the winners in the Hotels category were Six Senses Bhutan, which picked up the Prix Versailles 2019 award; Niehku Mountain Villa in Riksgränsen, Sweden, who received the Special prize Interior 2019 thanks to an interior scheme by Stylt Trampoli AB; and Capella Ubud in Bali, which was rightfully awarded the Special prize Exterior 2019 for its lush landscaping.
