AHEAD Asia celebrates sucessful second edition

Welcoming hoteliers, architects, interior designers and industry leaders amongst others to the newly opened Andaz Singapore, AHEAD Asia 2018 – the programme’s second edition – showcased the most innovative, ambitious and acclaimed hotels the region has to offer.

Amongst the winners was a Tokyo boutique hotel instilled with Japanese craftsmanship, an art-infused escape in Australian wine country and Singapore’s own The Warehouse Hotel, which received three awards including the coveted AHEAD Asia Hotel of the Year.

Matt Turner, Awards Director, comments: “2018 saw a wide range of projects from across the Asia-Pacific region taking AHEAD awards home. The winning hotels included everything from an Airbnb influenced urban boutique hotel in Tokyo (Trunk), to a luxury island resort (St. Regis Maldives) through to Vector Architects’ conversion of an old sugar mill in rural China (Alila Yangshuo).

“We were particularly delighted to honour our Outstanding Contribution recipient Priya Paul, a pioneer of the boutique hotel movement in India, in the 50th anniversary year for The Park Hotels group. The big winner on the night was the Warehouse Hotel – a stunning urban conversion in our host city of Singapore by Asylum. These winners will all now compete in our Global Biennale in January 2019, for which we’ll be revealing further details soon.”
