Villeroy & Boch to host wellbeing forum

Villeroy & Boch, the ceramics manufacturer with expertise in bathrooms and wellness, is set to hold a special event in London to bring together the hospitality design community.

Hosted by Sleeper, the early-evening event will comprise a keynote presentation and panel discussion on ‘The Future of Wellbeing: The Contribution of Good Design in the Hospitality Sector’, as well as an opportunity for networking with peers amongst Villeroy & Boch’s latest product innovations.

Christopher Sanderson, co-founder of The Future Laboratory – a trend forecasting, brand strategy and consumer insight consultancy – has been lined-up to deliver a keynote presentation before joining a panel session compered by Sleeper’s Editor-at-Large, Guy Dittrich. Sanderson will draw on the firm’s research expertise across the hospitality, travel, technology and luxury sectors to explore the drivers behind wellbeing in hotel design.

Panellists have been confirmed as Erik Nissen Johansen, Creative Director and Founder, Stylt Trampoli; George Gottl, CEO, Uxus; and Gesa Hansen, Designer, The Hansen Family. Nissen Johansen has recently completed the design of The Well, a £35 million spa and bathhouse in Norway, while Gottl is behind the concept for Even Hotels, IHG’s new brand for the wellness-minded traveller. Product designer Gesa Hansen meanwhile, will offer her take on the subject, having created an exclusive colour range for Villeroy & Boch’s Artis washbasin series.

The family-owned manufacturer offers a vast collection of washbasins, baths, shower trays, hot tubs and whirlpools, many of which can be seen in prestigious hotels including St. Pancras Renaissance in London, W Beijing Chang’an, and Hilton Vienna Plaza. The group also has a special projects division to assist architects, designers and planners on their hospitality, residential, office and healthcare developments.

The forthcoming event will build on the success of Villeroy & Boch’s international conference – entitled East Meets West – which took place last September in Mettlach, Germany, with Hong Kong-based designer Steve Leung as keynote speaker.

The London forum takes place on Wednesday 19 October at the recently opened Courthouse Hotel in Shoreditch, and is expected to attract over 150 decision makers from major hotel groups as well as architects, interior designers and procurement specialists.
