Bill Bensley to receive AHEAD Asia Outstanding Achievement award

AHEAD – the Awards for Hospitality Experience and Design – has named Bill Bensley as recipient of the AHEAD Asia 2019 Outstanding Contribution Award.

Recognising his unique approach – one often encapsulated with the Indonesian phrase ‘Lebih gila, lebih biak’, translating to ‘the odder, the better’ – the award celebrates the California-born, Bangkok-based interior designer’s fantasy-like compositions across 30 years in the industry.

With a body of work spanning over 200 projects and an established focus on the conservation and preservation of natural environment, Bensley’s recent portfolio includes the Shinta Mani Wild, the renovation of the Four Seasons, Langkawi, and The Slate in Phuket – which incorporates strong reference to the significance of tin mining, a practice historically synonymous with the island.

AHEAD has explored more of Bensley’s most exciting projects here. He will be awarded the accolade on 7 March 2019 at Andaz Singapore.

Each year the Outstanding Contribution award recognises a celebrated industry figure and their contribution to the hotel medium. Previous winners of the Asia award have included Jaya Ibrahim, Adrian Zecha and the late Kerry Hill. To attend AHEAD Asia 2019, visit the AHEAD website for tickets.
