Darrell Long joins Waldrop+Nichols Studio

Dallas-based interior design and architecture firm Waldrop+Nichols Studio has appointed industry veteran Darrell Long as Vice President.

With over 25 years of experience in the lifestyle and luxury hospitality segment, Long has delivered a host of high-end hotels and resorts around the world. Prior to joining Waldrop+Nichols Studio, he served as Design Principal – Regional Managing Director for Wilson Associates’ Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Dallas studios, and was previously a Partner and Design Director at HBA/Hirsch Bedner Associates.

In his new role, Long will work closely with Waldrop+Nichols Studio’s Founding Partner and CEO Reggi Nichols, as well as President Andrea Waldrop, who have collaborated on luxury hospitality projects over the past three decades. Throughout his professional career, Long has designed spaces with a distinct sense of location, placing emphasis on modernist principles rooted in contemporary and technological design practices, whether that be in hospitality, retail or and the recreational sector.

“I’m passionate about inventing and creating new standards for luxury, lifestyle and comfort,” he explains. “Philosophically, a successful design culture revolves around incessantly researching and creating thoughtfully innovative ways to bring a sense of context, life and honesty to every project I’m involved with. Waldrop+Nichols Studio is a world-class hospitality design firm that values quality design, and I’m so excited to be part of Reggi’s and Andrea’s vision.”

Waldrop comments: “Recognising shared philosophies with regards to luxury hospitality design was instrumental in Long joining our firm. What began as a friendship among Darrell, Reggi and I evolved into an executive leadership role within the firm. Darrell’s talent, experience and personality bring an added dimension to our studio culture. He will help expand the firm’s exposure, growth and strategies, which is exciting for us all.”
