Gensler hires new Design Director

Gensler has announced the appointment of Nigel Lea as Design Director at its London office, strengthening the firm’s architectural expertise and augmenting its commercial office, retail centres and mixed-use practices in the UK and Europe.

Duncan Swinhoe, Regional Managing Principal says: “Nigel’s addition to the London team expands the diversity of our architectural capability. His wealth of experience working with prominent developers complements our team’s expertise and will enable us to continue to deliver the highest level of business value, design quality and innovation to clients.”

Lea joins Gensler from Conran & Partners where he was a Director working with Sir Terence Conran, developing and leading the company’s architectural team within the London office. He is a highly skilled architect who brings 20 years’ experience having led the design of award-winning office, residential, hospitality, retail and masterplanning projects in London, most notably the new London Stock Exchange and Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park during his time at Eric Parry Architects, and throughout the UK, Europe and Asia.

Lea comments: “I am delighted to join Gensler – a genuinely global company with a clear design culture that promotes excellence and nurtures talent. The firm has worked with the world’s leading brands and clients, and I was particularly attracted by its global network. Gensler is strategically placed to inform the future of cities and I am excited to bring our collective expertise to key opportunity areas of London and across Europe, creating places that work as an integral part of society to help build better communities.”
