Robbyn Carter launches eponymous studio

Architectural interior designer Robbyn Carter has announced the launch of Studio Carter’s Los Angeles headquarters. Specialising in boutique and lifestyle experiences within hospitality, the artistically driven firm is focused on creating tailor-made spaces rooted in a philosophy inspired by nature and a respect for it.

With a team of 20-plus creatives based in California, Amsterdam and Singapore, Studio Carter provides a personal and articulated perspective on hospitality, ingenuity and wellbeing to each of its projects.

“Studio Carter is committed to craft and quality with each of our projects, elevating environmental awareness through materiality and our practices, and making a positive impact through holistic and timeless design,” says Carter on its approach. “Through the collective innovation of our design team, local craftsmen and artists, we bring stories and bespoke objects to life in a poetic visual vocabulary and sculptural forms.”

From conceptualisation to design to installation, the firm values strength in collaboration with its clients, owners and operators to deliver tangible experiences that reflect a perceptive response to brand and location. All work begins from an artistic viewpoint influenced by form, nature, culture and the client’s vision.

“This past year has challenged us as individuals and as an industry. Sustainability is our reality and we look forward to expanding our global reach with the launch of our new Los Angeles studio,” Carter continues.

Carter returns to her home state of California having spent more than 12 years with design firms in Singapore and Europe. Her career spans nearly two decades and includes working with international developers, collaborating with architects and fabricators, and leading the design of luxury hospitality projects throughout Asia, Europe, North America and the Middle East – most notably, Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi.

Studio Carter has several projects on the boards for 2022 and 2023, including Mondrian Gold Coast; Mondrian Singapore; Fairmont Port Douglas, Australia’s first Fairmont; and resorts in Shanghai, Sanya and Nanjing.
