Scott Miller launches Ensemble hospitality design studio
Scott Miller, former Global Director of AvroKO and former Director of North America for London-based 1508, has launched Ensemble, a new hospitality design and strategy studio built around a shared philosophy of guest experience, viewing every project through both the guest and host lens.
Created to meet the evolving expectations of the next-generation luxury guest, Ensemble offers end-to-end design services informed by development and operational insight, allowing projects to move seamlessly from concept to execution. Bringing together a collective of senior specialists with the varied expertise and discerning taste, the firm debuts with a portfolio of hotel, restaurant and wellness concepts including The Paradise Valley Hotel & Casitas, a newbuild boutique hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona; a fine-dining restaurant located adjacent to Four Seasons Hotel Boston; a celebrity-backed private wellness club in New York City’s SoHo; as well as additional luxury hotel projects yet to be announced.
Miller brings more than 20 years of experience across global creative industries, having led work across four continents at the intersection of hotel brands, developers, food and beverage operators and design teams. Miller’s clients have included Four Seasons, Six Senses and Rosewood, as well as developers including Related Companies, Tishman Speyer, Extell, PMG and Brookfield.
Supporting Miller in shaping Ensemble as Director of Design Operations is Andrés Lamos, bringing a multidisciplinary approach that marries architectural rigour with interior design, anchored by strong narrative concepts tailored to the hospitality market. Lamos’ experience spans luxury hospitality operations and design leadership roles at AvroKO, Meyer Davis and Pelli Clarke Pelli.
Ensemble is rounded out by a core team of accomplished design and creative leaders including Candace Hickman, Design Director and Creative Director Nicole Campion. Hickman brings more than 20 years of experience leading hospitality and high-end residential interiors from concept through delivery. She joins Ensemble from Soho House and Co, where she served as Design Director of the Americas, while collaborating with global teams to guide the creative direction of members’ clubs, hotels and restaurants across the region.
Formerly Design Director at Auberge Resorts and AvroKO, Campion is a conceptual storyteller and strategic brand thinker with more than 20 years of experience shaping narrative-driven hospitality environments from Stanly Ranch to Wildflower Farms.
Chris Johnson, Project Director of F&B Operations is a seasoned architectural and interior designer with more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Johnson specialises in food and beverage environments that balance operational rigor with refined design. His career spans major global cities and leading firms, including Union Square Hospitality and AvroKO. Known for his precision and exacting attention to detail, Johnson integrates these qualities into a holistic design approach encompassing kitchen design, operational strategy and project management.
“After two decades in hospitality design, I’ve found that owners are increasingly drawn to design partners who are truly collaborative and who deeply understand the needs of developers and operators, as well as the expectations of today’s luxury guest,” said Scott Miller, founder, Ensemble. “Ensemble was built to address that directly, bringing together senior specialists with deep experience across luxury hotels, members’ clubs and food and beverage to ensure the next wave of properties has a distinct point of view and truly delivers on its promise to guests.”
