Stonehill Taylor launches interiors division

Hospitality design firm Stonehill Taylor has announced the formation of Stonehill Taylor Interiors, and the appointment of Sara Duffy as its lead Principal. Duffy will manage dedicated interior design studios headed by Senior Associate Abby Bullard and Associates Bethany Gale and Dee Dee Sanchez.

Mark Hayes will also join the firm in March to oversee a collection of architecture and interior design projects.

“Sara has a long-standing history at our firm overseeing projects of a distinct vision and taste,” comments Paul Taylor, President of Stonehill Taylor. “She is an amazing leader who has encouraged the growth of our interiors division. Her and Mark’s joining of our leadership team makes the firm even stronger, expanding our capabilities internationally, with large-scale architecture and thoughtful interiors projects.”

Prior to her 11-year term with Stonehill Taylor, Duffy worked at Rockwell Group, MTV Networks and operated her own design firm. She spearheaded a number of the firm’s recent projects including the conversion of Eero Saarinen’s iconic TWA terminal to the TWA Hotel.

“I am thrilled to lead this team of tremendously talented designers uniquely driven by creativity and excellence” says Duffy. “We will strive to create wonder and excitement, elegant and one-of-a-kind interiors in every hotel we design.”

Mark Hayes joins from HBA Singapore, and has previously worked at hospitality firm BBGM. He joins following a decade in Singapore working on large-scale hotel projects in China, the Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia.

Stonehill Taylor’s portfolio includes the Eliza Jane Hotel in New Orleans, Moxy Downtown, and the NoMad hotels in Las Vegas and New York, both in collaboration with Jacques Garcia. In 2018, the firm took home two AHEAD awards; the Suite prize for its work at The Whitby, and the Best Bar, Club or Lounge prize for the Magic Hour bar topping Moxy Times Square. The following year, it was awarded the latter prize for a second time, recognising its architectural work creating The Fleur Room at Moxy Chelsea with Rockwell Group.
