Akula Cruise Sun Loungers

Akula announces partnership with Princess Cruises

Outdoor furniture supplier Akula has announced a landmark partnership with Princess Cruises, a global leader in premium cruising experiences.

The collaboration will see approximately 16,500 Akula sun loungers taking centre stage on all existing and forthcoming Princess vessels, encompassing an impressive fleet of 15 ships plus two future newbuilds.

“We are honoured to embark on this journey with Princess,” says Pete Maxton, Vice President of US Sales at Akula. “Working closely with George and his team has provided invaluable insight into the unique challenges they face managing such large volumes of sun loungers on each ship. This has allowed us to adapt and engineer our product to combat these issues. I am looking forward to developing this partnership for many years to come.”

George Scammell, Director of Interior Asset Management at Princess Cruises, adds: “Innovation and exceeding guest expectations are at the heart of everything we do at Princess. Akula’s expertise offers a fresh perspective to our onboard design challenges. Their ability to seamlessly integrate luxury and functionality into outdoor spaces is impressive, and we’re thrilled to have them on board to enhance our guests’ experience.”

Akula’s expertise in manufacturing outdoor furniture solutions has proven instrumental in assisting Scammell and his team in overcoming the intricate challenges they encounter in the cruise industry. The brand’s innovative designs and ergonomic solutions have seamlessly integrated into the cruise ship environment, ensuring a harmonious blend of style and functionality.

Akula will be showcasing its products at Cruise Ship Interiors at booth 602, on November 29-30, 2023.
