BD Barcelona has unveiled its new Odyssey collection, designed by Eugeni Quitlett. The armchair draws on Quitlett’s idiosyncratic design language, which ranges from futuristic science fiction to Antoni Gaudi and Modernism.

Ibiza native Quitlett has envisioned a range that can be described as an expression of gravity-defying seating. The armchair’s kinetic and sculptural qualities come together in a fluid silhouette that envelops the user, while the adjustable headrest and tilting mechanism together with the curved forms of the product recall the retro-futuristic designs of science fiction.

An interior steel structure with polyurethane moulds the body of the chair, as well as two adjustable polyurethane headrest options. The armchair can be upholstered in various BD Barcelona fabric and leather options, with a range of colourings available. Meanwhile, the chair’s revolving base and tilting mechanisms are manufactured in aluminium, chrome and/or matte black finishes, with interchangeable stud glides.

BD Barcelona Design was founded in 1972, and now features in architect and interior design studios across more than 60 countries. Eugeni Quitlett – a Catalan national – owns his own agency based in Barcelona.
