David Abad designs Keshi for B.Lux
A slender body and a voluminous head define David Abad’s Keshi decorative lamp collection, inspired by the eponymous traditional Japanese dolls.
The common thread woven through the Keshi collection is its shade, composed of multiple metallic rods in an anthracite grey finish, around an ample empty space, and a stout cylindrical marble base.
As a suspension lamp, the Keshi emits direct light functioning without a reflector. In contrast to its ample shade, the tabletop version features a slim base concealing the light source. The tabletop Keshi’s shade is equipped with a reflector above allowing it to emanate an attractive indirect light, yielding an interplay of lights and shades. Both feature high-intensity LED bulbs.
Another one of the Keshi table top version’s pluses is the material used in the manufacturing of its cylindrical body: it is crafted of Markina marble, whose black colouring makes it one of the most prized limestones internationally, especially in Italy. The use of this material is no coincidence, as the Markina quarries are located in the Basque Country, not far from where the factory B.lux has operated for over 35 years. All these features make the Keshi a veritable icon of minimalist luxury.
