Freifrau unveils Ivy by Sebastian Herkner
Freifrau have introduced a new seating design by Sebastian Herkner.
Expanding the portfolio with a collection that places a visibly crafted wooden shell at its centre for the first time, Ivy brings a new aesthetic to the Freifrau portfolio – especially with its coloured variants, developed in collaboration with Bavarian wood specialist Schotten & Hansen.
Combining design, craftsmanship and innovation, Ivy’s soft, organic shape evokes the image of a blossom, lending the chair a serene yet elegant expression. Moulded wood wool forms a strong yet flexible core, while premium oak veneer gives the surface a refined finish. The result is a three-dimensional shell that unites sculptural elegance with supple, welcoming comfort.

Thanks to its modular construction, IVY is exceptionally versatile: a choice of bases, optional armrests and fabric or leather upholstery allows for countless configurations, making this chair equally at home in public spaces, guestrooms and fine dining settings.
Using the Natural Colour System (NCS), Schotten & Hansen has spent years researching and conducting in-house laboratory work to develop a selection of eleven colour families with various nuances suitable for Ivy’s wood surfaces. The NCS enables a precise and universal description of colours across different materials, enabling Ivy surfaces to be harmoniously adapted to a wide variety of interior concepts.
