Lasvit to design AHDA trophies
Glass installation, sculpture and lighting design specialist Lasvit has announced a partnership with the Asia Hotel Design Awards. Acting as trophy sponsor, Lasvit will design and create the event’s coveted awards.
As part of the spectacular Design Week programme, the city of Singapore will host the prestigious Asia Hotel Design Awards on 10 March 2016 at The South Beach. Across a total of eleven categories, the awarded architects and designers will receive cube-shaped trophies created by the Czech brand.
Although the most obvious reason for the ceremony is the need to acknowledge the creativity, innovation and vision of the winning projects across the Asia Pacific region, it is almost equally as important to bring the region’s design community together in order to share the inspiration, strengthen ties and create new bonds. Lasvit’s trophy design builds on a likeminded idea.
Using the cube shape as a nod to the European Hotel Design Awards trophies, the hand-blown cubes – with sandblasted inscriptions and natural optical effect – feature an intricate cut-out on the top. At first seemingly divergent, the lines form a pattern when all of the cubes are aligned side by side. With each award unique, as each project is, the whole set then adds up to little more than just a sum of the individual pieces.
