Louis Poulsen delivers lighting concept for 25hours Hotel

Louis Poulsen has completed the lighting concept for 25hours Hotel Paper Island, strategically utilising light as a design element, not just a function.

Located on a small island in the middle of Copenhagen’s harbor, the hotel combines urban harbor flair with a summery holiday home atmosphere. The interior design, created by the Swedish design agency Stylt, is reminiscent of a Scandinavian summer house, featuring wood paneling, calm color palettes and views across the water.

To complement the scheme, Louis Poulsen delivered the lighting design with sensitivity, evidenced in the chosen luminaires: classics such as the PH Artichoke, modern series’ such as VL 38 and VL Studio, as well as specially adapted versions provide welcome lighting accents in public areas, rooms and outdoor spaces.

In the reception area, where a cozy harbour shop atmosphere blends with urban elegance, light not only ensures visibility but also creates ambiance. In the rooms – designed as retreats in the heart of the harbour – the lighting design enhances the feeling of tranquility: warm, understated, yet subtly present. The light fixtures not only complement the architecture but also reference the maritime environment and the island’s industrial heritage.

Instead of standard packages, Louis Poulsen delivers individually tailored solutions that work precisely where tranquility, design and identity converge. Each lighting model at 25Hours Hotel Paper Island was selected and positioned in consultation with the designers to enhance the quality of the space – for example, through special finishes or bespoke designs.

For guests, this means that upon entering the hotel, not only is the arrival palpable, but the light itself tells a story. It speaks of the island in the heart of the city, of the sea, of retreat and simultaneously of urban life. The result is a hotel that is more than just a place to sleep; the Paper Island Hotel offers design with a message, light with a history.

Like elements of a refined arrangement, the hotel’s design, architecture and light all interact, presenting a combination that demonstrates Louis Poulsen’s philosophy: luminaires are far more than mere light sources. They are building blocks for atmosphere – and on a grand scale.
