New Mambo Unlimited Ideas collection

Mambo Unlimited Ideas has released a collection of entirely new products, which will be on display at Maison & Objet and 100% Design this September.

Mambo Unlimited Ideas is based in Lisbon, Portugal, which, with its growing status as a creative hub and rich history of craftsmanship, represents the two elements central to the manufacturer’s ethos – the synthesis of contemporary design and traditional materials. Despite drawing inspiration from its locale, the company is global in scope, with a growing presence in the international market.

A fundamental aspect of the company’s approach is to unite a diverse number of Portuguese designers to create different products within a single range. The Flex table, for example, is designed by Ana Ladeiro, and features the brand’s typically traditional materials – marble, lacquered wood and metal – with a contemporary twist of colour in the red metal frame that joins the table legs. A brand devoted entirely to lighting, known as UTU, also falls under the Mambo Unlimited Ideas umbrella, offering a wide array of designs.

As well as the pieces expected from a furniture range, the new collection features a number of decorative objects, including a series of large insects made from ceramic and brass in vibrant colours. Displayed in the catalogue as a wall art installation, the crickets, ants, and beetles – all bigger than 20cm in length – are all handmade, meaning each design is unique.

The new range will be on display in Paris from 4-8 September at Maison & Objet, and in London at 100% Design from 23-26 September.
