Oxen Luce – the decorative lighting label by Italian specialist Nexo Luce – has revealed Balza, a collection of pendants drawing inspiration from the Bauhaus School, which celebrated its 100^th anniversary this year.

Debuted at Euroluce, the collection comprises hand-blown pieces of glass – with either cylindrical or spherical profiles available – surrounded by a gold painted rectangular, circular or square metal frame, echoing the typical shapes and silhouettes of the Bauhaus aesthetic.

“We chose metal for the frame as it is a ductile and very precise material,” explains Marco Corbetta, Production Manager, Nexo Luce. “For the light housing we used opal glass, where the hand-blown technique allowed us to create the precise 3D geometric shape, and the translucent white colour provided the mood diffusion.”

The collection seeks to channel the timeless, minimalist designs and principles of composition and colour that the Bauhaus school championed, drawing influence from Paul Klee and his research of the elemental shapes and the mixing and matching of geometric shapes. Allowing users to mix and match themselves with the different frames and light sources, Balza can be customised to suit a range of interior styles.
