RH unveils RH Estates

RH has unveiled RH Estates, a new concept debuting with 165 collections and amplifying the work of some of the world’s most elite designers, artisans and manufacturers. A classic aesthetic conceived through a contemporary lens, the assortment includes the masterfully tailored upholstery of Dmitriy & Co, the classical grandeur of Dennis & Leen, the meticulous reproductions of Formations and the iconic designs of Michael Taylor.

Launching with a dedicated 300-page Sourcebook and immersive physical experiences in RH Design Galleries across North America and Europe – including forthcoming standalone Galleries in Greenwich, Connecticut and West Hollywood, California – RH Estates provides unprecedented access to some of the most beautifully designed and highest quality furnishings in the world.

The collections within RH Estates, spanning the entire home including furnishings, lighting and décor, speak to the traditional market and reflect a commitment to craftsmanship never before seen at scale. Hand carvings, meticulously applied finishes and time-honoured construction techniques remain at the core of the assortment, with each design crafted and finished individually by master artisans.

Highlights of RH Estates, Volume 1

Gracing the cover of the new sourcebook, Valencia by Formations is inspired by ornate Moorish motifs of 17th-century Spanish architecture. Crafted of hand-hewn walnut tops and handcarved doors and drawers, each piece is hand burnished, distressed and dry polished by artisans to convey the character of a timeworn antique.

Inspired by the original chair created for Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Jones, Jennifer was designed by Michael Taylor (San Francisco) in the 1970s. RH’s deep respect for his body of work led to the acquisition of Michael Taylor Designs. The Jennifer collection is cast from his original mold, reflecting his signature mix of relaxed refinement, grand proportions and supreme comfort. Blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor, Jennifer is also available in all-weather wicker.

Drawing from an iconic 1920s Parisian sofa silhouette, Vendôme embodies the elegance and tailored sophistication of Style Moderne. Handcrafted in North Carolina, the generous silhouette features dramatic scroll arms with contrast piping, oversized nailheads framing the back and deck’s horizon line, and fluted wood legs.

Reimagining the architectural character of an 18th-century Portuguese antique, Paloma by Formations is handmade of American black walnut and hardwood with a patinaed finish and hammered openwork medallions. Celebrating refined ornamentation and the character of true craftsmanship, each piece is hand burnished, distressed and dry brushed by artisans.

A bold, architectural statement, the Diamond Table by Michael Taylor (San Francisco) was first created in the 1970, and this table is cast from his original mold. Grand in scale, Diamond is anchored by faceted, cast stone pedestal bases with a rough-hewn texture and the patina of aged stone. The celebrated design is also available in Outdoor Reclaimed Teak for open-air dining.

Reflecting the formal geometry of an 18th-century English neoclassical antique, Mayfair, designed in collaboration with Edward Robinson (San Francisco), has a commanding architectural presence. Handcrafted from European white oak, each piece is distinguished by fluted pilasters, inset panelling and carved corbel feet. Artisans hand sand every surface to impart old world character, highlighting the natural beauty of the wood grain.

An homage to a 17th-century Italian antique, Oliviero by the Van Thiels (The Netherlands) reimagines the architectural beauty of classical Venetian furnishings.  Handcrafted from European white oak, the silhouette is defined by masterful diamond carvings, raised panels, crown molding and dentil detail. Artisans hand sand and distress the wood to enhance its natural character.

Reproduced from a 17th-century dining table in Friedman’s Belvedere, California home, Monastery captures the commanding presence, timeworn grandeur and storied patina of the original. The top is hewn from oak planks showcasing the natural character of the wood, anchored by a trestle base with turned baluster legs and roundel accents.

Echoing the grandeur of 17th-century Italian design, Baldacchino showcases Formations’ mastery of historical reinterpretation. A Turkish Emperador marble top rests on an intricately turned steel frame that reflects the period’s iconic barley twist. Solid brass feet and acorn finials lend a refined finish, balancing sculptural expression with classical restraint.

Rooted in the architectural language of 17th-century Spain, Barrosa draws on timeless Moorish design. Artisan-crafted of walnut and hand-rubbed to a subtle lustre, the facade’s geometric relief pattern evokes a sculptural labyrinth.
