SkLO showcases new handblown glass designs at Euroluce 2025
SkLO is presenting three new designs at Euroluce 2025, showcasing its expertise in crafting handblown Czech glass lighting.
The presentation will be at Pavilion 10, Stand B06 at Salone del Mobile from 8-13 April.
Each design takes ancient Czech craftsmanship as its starting point, while also exemplifying SkLO’s ongoing commitment to reimagining classic materials with a fresh, modern perspective.
Angle Pendants
Simple sketching exercises sparked an idea for chandeliers that are expansive in scale, spanning a large room like constellations in the evening sky.
Comprising three unique pendants, the compositions are asymmetrical and dynamic, while also retaining a sense of simplicity. Each is composed of long brass tubular armatures topped with compact glass diffusers. An extensive set of custom brass joints and hardware imbues them with a sense of artisanal craftsmanship.
Unlike machine-made glass, each handblown diffuser varies in thickness from one piece to the next. The result is that each Angle Pendant hangs slightly differently in its space, showcasing a unique character.
“I like the flatness of the Angle Pendants,” says Paul Pavlak, Partner and Lead Designer at SkLO. “They are planar in composition, and this reduces their complexity, simplifying them, so they present as distinct objects rather than chaotic compositions. Suspended in a large space, they will change in their aspect as one views them from different places in the room. They appeal because they are at once large, yet very delicate.”
Dome Sconce
The Dome family of lighting fixtures expands with the introduction of the Dome Sconce, which brings the same lantern-like radiance of the original design to wall installations. Conceived by Partner and Lead Designer Karen Gilbert, who began her career as a metalsmith and jewelry designer, the Dome Sconce highlights the same striking, oversized chain that now characterises the collection.
The Dome Sconce features a smaller version of the original glass dome, suspended from the linked metal chain. LED lighting softly illuminates the glass from within, creating an inviting glow. The combination of the ethereal glass and the robust yet refined chain creates a beautiful contrast, reflecting Gilbert’s philosophy of balancing functionality with aesthetics.
The fixture’s customisable chain length allows for integration into a wide range of settings, while a variety of metal finishes offer greater flexibility, ensuring the sconce can be tailored to fit any space.
“I am excited to expand on the visual language of our popular Dome Pendant with this new introduction,” explains Gilbert. “We varied the scale, but not proportions. We added new geometries to the hardware to accommodate the wall. I love how the easily customisable length of the chain can give this sconce such different moods and personalities. It really expands the possibilities.”
Dot Sconce/Ceiling
The final addition to the brand’s range sees spherical diffusers of candy-hued handblown glass arranged upon a circular brass canopy. Minimal and graphic in form, Dot is a flush mounted fixture for walls and ceilings, and is available in three versions, with one, two, or three lit glass diffusers. Nine different opaque glass colours are available, which can be mixed-and-matched for sophisticated layering, from bright and electric chromatics to soft and subtle off-whites.
