The Whiteley has revealed the latest residence in The Designer Collection – an apartment thoughtfully curated by RH Contract.

Nestled behind the building’s original Grade II-listed 1911 façade, the three-bedroom apartment pays homage to The Whiteley’s storied past as London’s first department store. Featuring 6.1m ceilings, the apartment spans 4,000ft2 with striking mezzanine, where the principal bedroom elegantly floats above the living area below. An open-plan layout establishes spatial flow, while arched windows work in harmony to amplify natural light and fluidity throughout.

Echoing The Whiteley’s commitment to timeless artisanal craftsmanship, the interiors blend classical European elegance with modern refinement. Upon entry, a grand hallway sets a commanding tone, immediately introducing a striking lighting centrepiece: the Rain Round Chandelier by Alison Berger. Inspired by cascading raindrops, its luminous ripples wash across the apartment’s ceilings and walls. The lighting design approach continues throughout the residence where sculptural chandeliers and pendant fixtures add subtle glamour and intimacy to each room. Notably, in the principal bedroom, a Chiara Glass Tiered Round Chandelier – a tribute to 1950s Murano glass designs – reinterprets the era’s minimalist spirit with contemporary grandeur.

Once honoured with Royal Warrants from Queen Victoria and King George V, the design reflects The Whiteley’s regal legacy. A sense of quiet luxury is established through a serene palette of soft beige, creamy whites and warm caramel tones, reflecting the harmonious balance of calmness, light and space found in Foster + Partners’ exterior architecture. Rich layered textures such as bouclé fabrics, velvety upholstery, brushed metals and natural oak further enhance the space, while statement pieces, including a Cellini Side Table in Brown Emperador Marble and a Sarezzo Stone Tapered Lamp in travertine add depth and tactility.

The home’s living and dining areas feature plush seating and an organic-shaped dining table. Carefully selected RH furnishings including the Matteo Sofa, Scala Chair and Lara Dining Chair add both comfort and finesse to the space, creating an intimate yet statement-worthy setting. Whilst grand architectural elements form the scheme’s foundation, sculptural pieces soften the atmosphere and structured details create a harmonious balance between form and function. Beyond the communal spaces, the bedrooms serve as peaceful retreats where warm wooden elements, layered neutrals and soft textiles create an inviting environment.

With 70% of residences at The Whiteley now acquired, this collaboration with RH Contract presents a unique opportunity to live in one of the remaining homes in the development, delivered by joint investment partners C C Land and Mark. The RH-designed residence will sit alongside a 109-key Six Senses hotel – the first in the UK – as well as 19 commercial tenants.

“We are thrilled to launch the latest addition to The Designer Collection at The Whiteley, and to collaborate with RH Contract, featuring furnishings from a brand celebrated for its timeless aesthetic,” comments Justin Black, Head of UK Development, C C Land. “It has been a pleasure working with the team to create an apartment that distinctly encapsulates the iconic legacy of this landmark building. RH Contract has masterfully delivered a sophisticated space which now presents a rare opportunity to own a truly one-of-a-kind residence at The Whiteley.”
