Zoffany debuts Palladio Volume I range

Zoffany, a Style Library brand, has introduced the Palladio Volume I wallcoverings range for Autumn/Winter 2020.

Palladio Volume I is a compendium of wallcoverings featuring designs handpicked by Robert and Roger Nicholson, the creative duo behind Palladio’s launch 65 years ago.

Comprising six existing Palladio designs from the Zoffany archive alongside new creations, the collection is a celebration of new and original design, colourful and exemplary, underpinned by optimism and anticipation.

Chosen for their individuality and accomplished handwriting, Volume I includes the immersive and opulent Exchange Square pattern, the striking geometric Impact and the structured Columns.

In comparison with the original Palladio launch, the Palladio Volume I range is made up almost exclusively of Nicholson brothers’ designs. Staying true to the original pattern books and promotional material, illustrated interiors have been used throughout the collection, instead of photography to add integrity and continuity.

Continuing Palladio’s ethos of identifying new talent, the collection features Precarious Pangolins, a striking design by Sam Wilde, a graduate of the Royal College of Art. Wilde’s ‘bio-appropriation’ belief system supports the plants, animals and places featured in his designs, by donating a percentage of the proceeds generated from each sale to the World Land Trust.

“We’re absolutely delighted to unveil Palladio Volume I, a project that’s been kept tightly under wraps for a very long time,” comments Peter Gomez, head of design at Zoffany. “From selecting our favourite Palladio archive pieces, to getting to know the fabulous designers at the Royal College of Art, this collection has been a huge joy to produce from start to finish.”

He adds: “We’re excited to set up a bursary programme which will help one designer each year at the RCA, continuing with the Nicholson brothers’ legacy of supporting exceptional new design talent.”

The Zoffany studio is currently working on Palladio Volume II.
