Adagio opens Scotland aparthotel

The latest aparthotel from Aparthotels Adagio has opened in Edinburgh, Scotland. Featuring new look apartments and a new public space concept, Adagio Edinburgh Royal Mile is the latest opening in the city’s £150 million New Waverley development.

The 146-key property is the first in the brand’s portfolio to feature the new look apartments, and also marks the first Adagio project to feature its new public space concept – an open area where guests can meet, share and collaborate.

Following a roll-out across Europe, Adagio’s aparthotel concept is now being applied to some of the UK’s premier city-centre destinations. Edinburgh marks the third UK opening, after launches in Liverpool in 2013 and Birmingham in 2015. The concept provides hotel services alongside fully furnished studios and one-bedroomed apartments, complete with stylish kitchens and bathrooms, resulting in a high-quality self-catering accommodation.

Jose Gómez, General Manager of Aparthotels Adagio, comments: “The opening of Adagio Edinburgh Royal Mile is an important milestone in the global development of Adagio. The first new look aparthotel to open anywhere in the world, the Edinburgh launch demonstrates our continued commitment to bringing an exceptional product to our guests around the world. It is an exciting time for the brand and we are thrilled that the new concept will be seen in such a world-renowned city as Edinburgh for the very first time.”

The four-storey building has been constructed behind an existing façade of two 1930s era tenement buildings overlooking the Royal Mile – one of which is the C-listed Sailors Ark building, formerly an ex-serviceman’s hostel.

The property is located moments from Edinburgh Waverley train station on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, and overlooks New Waverley’s new public square – the first significant public space to open in the city-centre for more than 50 years.
