Aethos is opening its first UK outpost in October 2025. The boutique hotel brand is taking over the former Nobu Hotel building on Willow Street in Shoreditch and giving it a bold, soulful reinvention as Aethos London Shoreditch.

The 164-room hotel is designed by Barcelona-based Astet Studio, with a refined, narrative-led design. Drawing inspiration from Shoreditch’s industrial and artisanal heritage, the interiors balance raw, textured materials – like terracotta, brushed metals and layered wood – with warm, tactile finishes.

The design preserves the original architectural features, such as a terracotta wall, while introducing bespoke lighting and handcrafted elements created in collaboration with local artisans.

Natural light floods the space, accentuating an urban palette softened by warm accents, creating an atmosphere that feels both grounded and inviting. This layered, immersive approach offers guests a slower, more mindful luxury that speaks to the neighbourhood’s creative spirit and evolving cultural identity.

Anchoring the space is a new Japanese dining concept, bringing precision, seasonality and bold simplicity to the plate. The space offers a refined experience that moves effortlessly from quiet dinners to social evenings.

A boutique spa and high-performance training studio bring a quiet focus to wellbeing, with treatments and technologies rooted in longevity and balance.

The hotel puts its thoughtfully curated members’ club at the centre of it all, with The Aethos members’ community having been designed to be less velvet rope and more open invitation. Aethos’ cultural programming embodies four pillars– The Table, The Mix, Wellness Rituals and Off Grid, all designed to reflect the energy of Shoreditch, not escape it.

“The best kind of hospitality doesn’t just serve people – it brings them together,” explains Benjamin Habbel, Aethos co-founder and CEO. “With Aethos in Shoreditch, we’re creating a space that feels alive, local, and deeply personal.”
