Canopy reveals Oregon hotel

Canopy by Hilton has unveiled plans for its first hotel in Portland, Oregon. Located on Gallery Row, in the city’s Pearl District, the newbuild property is set to open in Q3 of 2017.

Canopy by Hilton Portland Pearl District will be comprised of 153 guestrooms, and feature 2,807ft2 of meeting space and a transfer lounge. A food and beverage programme will offer local products including wild salmon, razor clams, hazelnuts, blueberries, and fiddleheads, and will include a drinks menu sourced from the city’s own Distillery Row, and wines from Willamette Valley.

“We are excited about our newest addition to our growing Canopy by Hilton portfolio,” comments Gary Steffen, Global Head, Canopy by Hilton. “We look forward to offering our guests a truly positive stay and introducing our guests to this exciting neighbourhood via experiences such as visiting the world’s largest bookstore, Powell’s City of Books, the nearby Gerding Theater or enjoying one of several renowned art galleries.”

Once home to abandoned warehouses and rail yards, the cobblestoned Gallery row has undergone a redevelopment in recent years, turning it into a popular shopping, dining and entertainment district, home to upscale boutiques and restaurants.

“We’ve become close working partners with Hilton over the past decade, and the shared experience lends even greater confidence to the success of the project,” concludes Dave Pollin, co-founder and President of The Buccini/Pollin Group. “The Pearl District’s exciting array of restaurants, stylish shops, and art galleries complemented by Hilton’s excellence in hospitality, will enable guests to enjoy many memorable experiences.”
