Carlson Rezidor strengthens UK portfolio

Carlson Rezidor has strengthened its portfolio in the United Kingdom with Radisson Blu Hotel Kingston Upon Hull.

The new-build property, created in conjunction with developer Manor Property Group, will feature 168 guestrooms. It is slated to open mid-2016 in Hull’s central business district.

Wolfgang M. Neumann, President and CEO of Rezidor comments: “The United Kingdom is a key mature market for us, and we are delighted to bring our core brand Radisson Blu to Kingston upon Hull which will be the UK’s ‘City of Culture’ in 2017.”

The Radisson Blu Hotel guestrooms will offer signature services such as free high speed internet access. Further services and facilities will comprise an all day dining restaurant, a lobby bar and café, and a health club. The hotel has also been designed to meet the needs of local businesses and their visitors, including 750m² of meeting space and underground parking. The building is also part of the Manor Mill mixed-use development, which will also feature a 23-floor residential tower, student homes, a 5000m² casino, and a plaza with restaurants and bars.

Mark Bailey, Hotel Development Director for Manor Property Group comments: “We are delighted to be working with Rezidor in bringing a Radisson Blu to Hull, an upper upscale hotel is much needed within the city and will make a significant contribution to raising Hull’s hospitality profile. The exceptional facilities which will be provided by the development are timed to be open prior to Hull’s tenure as UK City of Culture 2017.”

Specialist hotel architects Leach Rhodes Walker adds: “The design brief required the introduction of the internationally renowned Radisson Blu hotel to the development together with its significant restaurant, bar, lounge and meeting rooms. These public accessible facilities contained over three storeys have been designed to allow full visibility and interaction with the waterside walkways, and to bring additional vibrancy to the development’s central civic square. The curved façade of the hotel rises 12 storeys above the waterside, offering sweeping panoramic views over the city.”
