Andalusian design studio Cateto Cateto, headed by creative director Alejandro Sánchez, has led the design of Casa Capirote, a new guesthouse in Seville, Spain.

The interior design concept for the apartments is inspired by the essence of Seville, particularly Triana pottery, which is referenced in numerous details of the Plaza de España. This pottery, renowned for its vibrant colours and artistic details, is reflected in the design through decorative elements and geometric patterns present in the bed headboard, beams and sink, bringing a handcrafted and authentic touch to the space.

Characterised by being a diaphanous and multipurpose space, the property adapts to different needs through the strategic use of curtains. These allow the space to be divided and reorganised as needed, offering a flexibility that varies between a social environment and a more intimate or private area.

The use of curtains also maximises the impact of natural light, generating a warm and luminous environment that highlights the earth and green tones characteristic of the city, as well as enhancing the feeling of spaciousness and connection with the outdoors, making the space feel cosy and in harmony with its surroundings.

The overall effect maintains a clean and minimalist aesthetic in keeping with the lime mortar finishes on the walls – a traditional material in Andalusian architecture that evokes the ancient construction techniques of the region – and the presence of ceramic elements inspired by the Triana tradition.

The design also incorporates ceramic details that reinforce the connection with local tradition, while contemporary furniture and accessories, with organic shapes and clean lines, achieve a perfect balance between the modern and the traditional.

Through its design, Casa Capriote pays homage to Seville’s architectural and artistic traditions, as it reinterprets these elements in a contemporary way, offering a space that is both a reflection of local history and an expression of modernity and sophistication.
