Marking Cenizaro Hotels and Resorts’ first desert resort, The Residence Douz is set to open in Q3 2022.
The brand’s second opening in Tunisia, the safari-inspired retreat will serve as a gateway to the Sahara, surrounded by golden sand and swaying palms.
Glowing lanterns pave the way through the all-suite oasis, which comprises of 50 desert-inspired villas set in 40 hectares of rolling dunes. Referencing local design and aesthetics, each of the villas incorporates patterned bricks of Tozeur, hand-woven carpets and a canvas canopy to shade the private terraces and swimming pools from the heat of the desert sun.
An amalgamation of worldwide influences and cuisines, Tunisia’s rich culture is reflected in the resort’s dining experiences. Each of the three spaces will serve different dishes, celebrating African wilderness, Arabic delicacies and Mediterranean elegance, showcasing delicious flavours in the form of gourmet cuisine and sumptuous comfort food.
Offering a respite from the desert heat, the spa features a large hammam, eight treatment rooms, eight scrub rooms, Turkish baths and a spa lounge, each of which will be embellished by local artwork and furnishings.
