Ahãma, a new hospitality offering on Türkiye’s Göcek coastline, will open its doors in August 2024.

Nestled on the white sand beaches of a secluded bay and cocooned by an 11-hectare protected forest, the resort reflects its natural surroundings, with materials including wood, stone and linen and a colour palette of warm terracotta. The design has been envisioned by Istanbul’s Stüdyo AB Architecture, in collaboration with Conceptual and Creative Director Gabriela Palatchi, drawing inspiration from the ancient Lycians that once inhabited the region, known as the ‘people of light’.

The property features an array of repurposed and artisanal furniture, as well as select pieces sourced from vintage fairs and art galleries in Istanbul and London, and tiles and kilim rugs crafted specifically by Turkish artisans. Ahãma showcases numerous commissioned artworks by emerging young talents, alongside a focal collection by Hiroshi Sugimoto, featuring over 50 individual pieces with a seascape theme.

Ahãma will comprise 30 cabanas and a villa, alongside four dining spaces which range from a beachside restaurant to a street-food concept. Wellness facilities meanwhile are set to include an open-air yoga shala, gym, massage area and a pool shaped like an inverted temple, sunken into the ground. Courtesy of Spanish landscape architect Alvaro Sampedro, Ahãma’s grounds highlight the local flora and the distinctive Göcek topography.

2025 will see the addition of a number of new amenities, including a multi-functional Sound Temple designed by Mexican architect Hector Esrawe, a wellness centre and spa, a Mezcal bar and a concept store.
