Beit Noun, a newly restored heritage house turned boutique hotel in the city of MechMech, Lebanon has opened its doors, revealing a colourfully modern interior within vernacular architectural forms.

Dating back to the beginning of the 20th century, the family house sits on a large land facing both the sea and the cedar mountain summits.

When GM Architects was tasked with transforming the family property into a boutique hotel, they knew that they wanted to treat the sprawling property more like “the experience of visiting a house more than a hotel.”

Featuring a stylish design decor with a personal touch, Beit Noun has a unique character that distinguishes itself from other hotel brands, whilst remaining true to its heritage.

The integrative design starts in the entrance area, but not confines to the main building of the hotel, we emphasise the integration of the three.

In the design of the entry sequence for the boutique property, GM Architects extracted the “nature trail” feelings from the landscape, in order to create a unique visual environment and sequential spatial experience for the guests.

Joyful colours inspired by the regional crafts and nature play with the senses for a truly relaxed and chill experience. Master planning the outdoors allowed the design team to create a holistic experience throughout the property with areas for leisure, swimming, relaxing and al fresco dining.

“I am proud to say that this project was done single handedly by my team of highly motivated and creative designers relying entirely on local materials and crafts from the fit outs to the FF&E hence creating a genuine and authentic sense of place promoting regional arts and crafts with a sincere concern towards ecology,” says Galal Mahmoud. “A close to zero carbon footprint project with creative and cost effective solutions dwelling on common sense and traditional methods”.
