Hilton’s Curio set to debut in the UAE

Scheduled to open in 2018, work has begun on a $300 million aparthotel and residential complex in Dubai, set to feature a manmade beach and rainforest.

The project in Tecom, just off the Sheikh Zayed Road, is set to be the UAE debut of the ‘Curio – A Collection by Hilton’ luxury brand. Curio already has hotels across the US and Europe. The first Curio Middle East hotel is scheduled to open at Mall of Qatar next year.

Dubai’s Curio is to be called the Rosemont Hotel & Residences in Al Thanya First, and is being developed on around 13,000m² of land and will comprise two 47-storey towers, of which one will be an aparthotel and the other serviced apartments.

The aparthotel will have 450 hotel guestrooms, plus a rooftop lobby and swimming pool. The second tower will have 280 serviced apartments also with a rooftop lobby and swimming pool. There will also be a health club, dining area, business centre and VIP lounge.

According to the plans, a five-storey podium is to be constructed between the towers, linking the two and featuring an artificial ‘beach’ and a manmade, rainforest-style landscape garden next to it.

The developer is Hilton Worldwide, with the lead consultant Dubai-based arm of Canadian company Zas Group and Kieferle & Partner is the architect. The main contractor, Civil Engineering and Contracting, was appointed shortly after Zas Group won the project management contract in June.

Rudi Jagersbacher, president, Middle East and Africa for Hilton Worldwide, said: “Dubai’s vibrant hospitality sector continues to grow at an impressive pace, firmly earning its position as a highly desirable destination for global travellers. We continue to see huge potential in the market, and to add a Curio property to our portfolio of 35 hotels either trading or under development in the UAE is our recognition of the UAE’s ability to build a compelling offering to attract visitors from around the world.”
