Kristina Zanic Consultants has unveiled the interior design vision behind InterContinental The Red Sea Resort.
Located on Shura Island, the heart of The Red Sea destination, the new luxury retreat is designed in collaboration with architects Foster + Partners, providing 210 sea-facing rooms and suites with direct beach access, alongside a curated collection of dining venues, pools, wellness facilities and event spaces.
The interiors are conceived as a journey of discovery, echoing both the resort’s maze-like architectural layout and the spirit of exploration that defines the wider destination experience. Kristina Zanic Consultants’ design transforms winding pathways into immersive spatial experiences, encouraging guests to slow down, explore and connect with their surroundings.
Throughout the retreat, fluid layouts and seamless indoor-outdoor connections create a relaxing and nature-driven experience. Organic textures, flowing forms and spiralling, radiating finishes provide a layered, tactile environment, while a palette of soft neutrals with coastal accents reflects the setting. Handmade three-dimensional artworks introduce warmth and character, reinforcing a relaxed yet refined island aesthetic.

Underpinning every aspect of the project is a commitment to sustainability, with the resort aligned with LEED Platinum guidelines, reflecting The Red Sea destination’s vision and its commitment to regenerative tourism. Environmental responsibility is woven into every detail, from material selection to spatial planning.
Upon arrival, guests enter a light-filled lobby where open volumes transition into intimate, cocooned spaces, while leaf-shaped rattan lighting and a three-dimensional timber wall establish a strong connection to nature.
Guestrooms and suites continue this fluid architectural language, with curved façades and terraces extending into the interiors. Layered ceilings, curved furniture and open layouts preserve a relaxed island feel, while beds are positioned to maximise sea views and framed by rope screens that allow visual flow. Handwoven rugs, bespoke minibars, custom tapestries and generous outdoor lounge areas further enhance guest comfort.

The resort’s dining venues reflect a spirit of cultural and culinary exploration. All-day restaurant Darein draws inspiration from Moroccan and Levantine hospitality, expressed through Mediterranean hues, artisanal Zellige tiles and communal seating around a show kitchen framed by elegant arches. Ardo, a South American dining concept, blends vibrant colours, rich textures and Latin-inspired art, anchored by a statement tapestry at the bar. Meanwhile, The 305 mocktail bar channels the carefree energy of Havana and Miami through bold hues, playful details and a Cuban-inspired bar and cigar service.
At Spa InterContinental, the interiors are designed to promote deep relaxation and reconnection with nature. A skylit reception framed by an arched screen sets a tranquil tone, while dedicated male and female facilities include hammams, specialised treatment rooms and private terraces overlooking the pool.
“Our approach at InterContinental The Red Sea Resort was to let nature guide the guest experience,” says Kristina Zanic, CEO of Kristina Zanic Consultants. “The spaces flow with the rhythms of the Red Sea, creating a journey that feels immersive and intuitive. Every area is designed to spark curiosity, encourage relaxation and express a true sense of place.”
