Jacu Strauss has partnered with pre-loved and vintage furniture marketplace Vinterior to design four new cabin suites at the Sea Containers Hotel in London.

The suites are an extension of the overarching narrative of the 1920s transatlantic cruise liner inspired hotel, which sits on the Thames, with each cabin suite transporting guests to a different era in a journey through the golden age of cruises over the last 150 years.

Together with Vinterior, an online marketplace to buy and sell premium pre-loved furniture, the Creative Director of Lore Group has curated the suites with vintage, period-appropriate pieces that add character to each space.

The Edwardian Cabin Suite captures the feeling of an early 20th-century cabin, the period where luxury cruise journeys boomed. The bedroom of this cabin suite boasts an antique Edwardian mahogany leather top kidney shaped desk, alongside an antique Edwardian upholstered walnut armchair and a floor lamp with an in-built marble table adorning the living area.

The Art Deco Cabin Suite meanwhile features statement pieces including a set of Swedish walnut bedside tables, a restored floor lamp with two in-built tables, and a 1930s Art Deco sofa and armchair set that is being re-upholstered by Strauss’s team. The space leans towards a more monochromatic feel, with colour and texture bringing dimension through wood accents and pops of cork.

The Mid-Century Cabin Suite represents the late 1950s – 1960s era, a time where ship design evolved and features like wood panelling and chrome accents became coveted interior features. This is brought to life through a Danish, powder blue sofa and armchair set that serves as the focal point of the living space. A set of Italian Mid-Century lights adorn the walls, alongside a Ludwig Mies Van De Roche chrome leather chair.

Finally, the Dynasty Cabin Suite transports guests to the glamour, opulence and style of the 1980s. The expressive, luxurious nature of the period is captured in a Maralunga Sofa by Vico Magistretti that has been recovered in a new leather, alongside a Cursava Muebles lucite and glass coffee table and antique ceramic floor lamp.

“What is so great about this partnership is that Vinterior is home to such a broad array of furniture, furnishings and art,” says Strauss. “There was a specific vision and feeling we wanted to emulate in each suite based on the time periods, and we were able to find exactly what we were looking for in abundance with Vinterior.”

Vinterior founder and CEO, Sandrine Zhang Ferron also comments: “We want to show people that pre-loved furniture is the future. By offering unique, high-quality pieces with rich histories, we’re not just providing an alternative to mass-produced furniture – we’re offering a way to create thoughtful, sustainable interiors that have lasting value and meaning. This partnership with Jacu Strauss at Sea Containers is a perfect example of how design and sustainability can, and should, go hand in hand.”
