Mad Swans, a new countryside concept offering eco-cabin stays, has officially opened its first outpost in Somerset.
Situated amid the rolling Mendip Hills, the project reimagines social spaces as vibrant, inclusive hubs with a design that fosters human connection. Onsite facilities include a 12-hole golf course, padel and pickleball courts, a driving range, darts and gym.
Mad Swans is the brainchild of hospitality entrepreneurs, Joel Cadbury and Ollie Vigors, who have brought together a formidable leadership team to steer the venture, which promises to transform golf clubhouses of the past into lively neighbourhood spaces with fresh design and great food guided by Michelin-starred chef Ollie Dabbous.

Designed to offer simple, restorative stays, the eight eco-cabins are characterised by a palette of greens and blues with pops of red, with thoughtful details and modern comforts. Large windows frame the surrounding nature, alongside queen-sized beds, a walk-in shower, radio player and refreshment facilities. Amenities are supplied by Bramley, a British brand that reinforces the focus on sustainability and wellbeing.
In addition to the golf course, Mad Swans also features the Swing Barn – a fully covered, all-weather driving range where golf meets socialising. Each bay is its own private hangout, complete with sofa seating, F&B service and unlimited balls.

The hotel embeds sustainability into its operations through energy-efficient practices, recycling, plans for solar panels, EV charging and eco-bikes. Biodiversity is nurtured through rewilding, tree planting, beehives and wildflower meadow restoration.
In addition, community engagement extends through partnerships with schools and charities, golf and nature education programmes and dedicated spaces for wellbeing. Kitchen gardens provide herbs and edible flowers, complemented by responsibly sourced local produce, while retail products are carefully chosen for their sustainability.
