Marriott announces Taipei

Scheduled to open in July/August 2015, Marriott International has announced the expansion of its global portfolio with its first hotel in Taiwan, the Taipei Marriott Hotel.

Located in the Dazhi District of Taipei, the capital’s new commercial hub, Taipei Marriott will cater for business as well as leisure travellers. The hotel encompasses the largest convention centre in Taipei, with 3000m2 of pillarless, flexible space that can be transformed into up to 12 meeting spaces, or conversely a 1260m2 ballroom.

The five star hotel also features 320 guestrooms and suites as well as four restaurants and a lounge, offering an international range of cuisines. The Taipei Marriott Hotel’s Spa has a range of specialist spa treatments available as well as a 24-hour fitness centre, including a rooftop swimming pool.

Its position on the north bank of the Keelung River enables unobscured panoramic views of Taipei City from each guestroom, plus incorporates Marriott’s Green Hotel Development initiative.

Indigenous shrubbery and flowering plants are found throughout the hotel grounds and, like a botanical garden, are interspersed with pieces of art and sitting areas.

In the centre of the landscape is ‘Butterflies,’ an aluminium sculpture by Manolo Valdes, which is inspired by the nearby butterfly biosphere reserve on Mount Jiannan. The sculpture is the artist’s tribute to Taiwan, known as The Butterfly Kingdom, and serves as commendation to nature and the arts.
