New Meininger hotel planned for Berlin

Meininger hotels and NDC Group have signed contracts for a new Meininger hotel located directly at East Side Gallery, close to the Ostbahnhof railway station in Berlin.

Set to open in autumn 2016, the hotel will be the fifth for the brand in Berlin. The new hotel will feature 206 rooms and 704 beds on seven floors; well-equipped with TV, free wifi and en-suite bathrooms all to a high specification. The basement area will offer underground parking for 17 cars. All public spaces will be located on the ground floor, including a lobby, lounge, breakfast area and bar, as well as guest kitchen and gamezone, which are all standard for Meininger hotels.

The hotel will have a gross floor area of 6,000m2 and will be located within walking distance of Warschauer Straße, one of Berlin’s most frequented tourist areas, and mainline railway station Ostbahnhof, which handles around 100.000 passengers daily, the hotel will have excellent connections to public transport.

Navneet Bali, CEO of Meininger hotels commented: “I’m very happy about this new project, which is a perfect addition to our Berlin portfolio. The location of the hotel is great. It’s centrally located next to transport hubs, in a very vibrant area of Berlin. With its flexible room structure, which ranges from double to multi-bed rooms, it’s the prefect hotel for different types of guests, from school groups and families, to individual travellers and corporate guests.”

Meininger currently operates 16 hotels in 10 European cities. It has ambitious plans for growth, and is keen to establish a presence in all key European cities within the next five years.
