Mövenpick announces Stuttgart hotel

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has signed the contract for a second Mövenpick hotel at Stuttgart airport.

Building on the success of the Mövenpick Hotel Stuttgart Airport & Messe, the company will now establish another hotel just 150m from the existing building. The 262-key newbuild will be situated by the S-Bahn, adjacent to the planned airport station and tram terminal stop, and is expected to open in spring 2019.

The hotel has been designed by architects Mühlich, Fink & Partner, and will feature a 150-seat restaurant and 100-seat bar, in addition to an atrium style lobby that will incorporate plant-life and luscious greens to cultivate a relaxing introductory ambience.

“Our existing hotel opened nine years ago and, overseen by Jürgen Köhler, General Manager and Director of Operations Germany, is highly regarded as an excellent hotel choice in this important economic centre,” comments Ola Ivarsson, Chief Operating Officer Europe. “With this new project, we are proud to support all the stakeholders, not least Stinag, Stuttgart Invest AG and Flughafen Stuttgart GmbH, in their efforts to transform this first-class location into one of the most important hubs in Germany. The enhanced cooperation with a partner of Stinag’s calibre is an important step in the development of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in Europe.”

For events and conferences, the design will feature a 740m² ballroom in addition to several meeting rooms. When combined with the conference space at the Mövenpick Hotel Stuttgart Airport & Messe, just a short walk away, this will create the biggest meeting and event space in southern Germany, at almost 3,000m².

“The new hotel will not only increase Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts’ profile in Germany, but also expand our European portfolio, which represents an important part of our corporate expansion strategy.” concludes Olivier Chavy, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts’ new CEO.
