After devastation at the hands of Typhoon Odette in 2022, Nay Palad Hideaway has announced that it will reopen in June 2023. The hotel has undergone a complete redesign and rebuild after 85% of the island was destroyed in 2022.
Located on the southeastern tip of the island of Siargao in the Philippines, Nay Palad Hideaway sits between a white sand beach on the Pacific Ocean and an ancient mangrove forest. With Bobby Dekeyser, founder of global furniture company Dedon, at the helm, and designer Daniel Pouzet taking the lead on design, the property will seek to channel a model of sustainable luxury upon its reopening.
Comprising ten villas – ranging from one to three-bedroom – the property is an intimate site for guests, while the largest of the site’s villas, Perlah Villa, boasts its own private beach, pool and treehouse. Sweeping thatched roofs create a distinct exterior to the hotel’s buildings, while its interiors use earthy tones and natural materials to create a soft, relaxing space.
In-room amenities are naturally sourced and created, a nod to the hotel’s sustainability ethos. Similarly, a daily-designed menu centres around freshly caught and grown produce, while the resort seeks to give back to its local community through a range of programmes and initiatives.
